Skiing 1-29-11

We all went up to Alta this Saturday for some practice skiing for the boys, and Tessa got her first ski ride in the backpack. I think she liked it, but she spent about half the time taking a nap. After a little warmup on the rope tow, Will, Noah and I headed over to the Sunnyside lift for a run. Will did great, like he had been skiing all year already, and Noah showed he is ready for the big slopes too, he was turning and doing wedges like a pro!

Go Grizz!

Tonight, Will, Noah and I went to a Utah Grizzlies hockey game at the Maverick Center in Salt Lake.  It was our first game of the year and it was one of the most enjoyable games I have ever seen, and not just because it was with the boys and they had so much fun.  The Grizz are having their best year ever and they were amazing tonight.  There were even things I had never seen before, like in the second period when there were 5 Grizzlies players in the penalty box at one time.  Some of them actually had to stand, becasue there wasn't enough room to sit.  Despite some extended power play time they only allowed one goal during it and were only down 0-2 after it.  They scored one goal late in the second right in front of us and then scored with about 4 minutes left in the 3rd to tie it.  Less than 2 minutes into overtime they scored the game winner, and we all screamed our heads off!  The boys really had fun cheering and dancing and letting loose.  But I'm sure if you asked them they would say the best part was the snacks, they loved the snowcone and the cotton candy most of all, of course!

Ice Skating

Last weekend we took the boys ice skating for the first time (well, Wendy did, I held Tessa and tried to take videos and pictures.)  They had never been on skates before but they took to the ice like seasoned midwesterners.  After a couple laps holding on to mom, Will was ready to go around by himself.  There were lots of falls but he did better than I could have ever imagined!  Noah didn't quite skate by himself yet, but he did great too, especially for a 4 year old.

What was most amazing was the kids reaction afterwards... they can't wait to go again!  Will especially was begging to go again right away and can't stop talking about it.  They'll be as good as their dad in no time (hopefully better, it's never been my best skill!)

Hey Grandpa!
